RIDE CHECK AT LITTLE CURRENT SWING BRIDGE RESULTS IN IMPAIRED ARREST

(LITTLE CURRENT, ON) - A driver is facing impaired-related charges after a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) check in Little Current.
On Saturday, September 13, 2025, at approximately 1:30 am, the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting a RIDE check on Meredith Street East in Little Current, at the Swing Bridge. A vehicle was observed speeding towards the RIDE check, and police instructed the driver to stop. Further investigation on scene resulted in police completing a Standardized Field Sobriety Test (SFST) with the driver. The driver was subsequently arrested for impaired operation.
The driver, Danielle MIGWANS, 29-years-old from M’Chigeeng First Nation, was charged with:
- Operation while impaired
- Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available
- Fail to surrender insurance card
- Driving while under suspension
- Drive motor vehicle, no permit
- Fail to notify change of address
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Gore Bay on October 7, 2025.
