(TINY TOWNSHIP, ON) On Thursday evening, members of the Southern Georgian Bay detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a report of a suspected impaired driver which led an arrest following a foot pursuit in Tiny Township.

On April 2, 2026, at about 10:30 pm, police were contacted by a Midland business reporting that a customer appeared impaired and had driven away from the location. Officers conducted patrols and located the vehicle in Tiny Township a short time later. An officer observed the vehicle being operated erratically prior to initiating a traffic stop on Balm Beach Road in Tiny Township.

During the investigation, it was demanded the driver exit the vehicle to participate in sobriety testing however they fled on foot. A brief foot pursuit ensued and a conducted energy weapon (CEW) was deployed to gain control of the individual. The driver was taken into custody and transported to detachment.

As a result of this investigation, Mitchel KRULA, 26 years, of Tiny Township, faces the following criminal and provincial charges:

  • Operation While Impaired
  • Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand
  • Resist Peace Officer
  • Mischief - Destroy or Damage Property
  • Novice Driver - Blood Alcohol Concentration Above Zero
  • Drive Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor
  • Operate Motor Vehicle Without Insurance

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on May 14, 2026, in Midland. In Ontario, drivers charged with impaired operation are subject to an immediate 90‑day driver’s licence suspension and a 7‑day vehicle impoundment.
