MOTORIST CHARGED WITH IMPAIRED

(QUINTE WEST, ON) - The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a driver with impaired driving following a traffic stop.
On Friday, March 27, 2026, at approximately 7:45 pm, Quinte West OPP conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle on Ontario Street, Trenton.
During the investigation, an individual was arrested for being impaired. The driver was subsequently transported to the detachment for further testing.
As a result of the investigation, charges were laid under the Criminal Code (CC) and the Highway Traffic Act (HTA).
Michael VINE, 34 years old, from Quinte West, was charged with the following offences:
- Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Drive motor vehicle - no licence
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on May 7, 2026. Additionally, the vehicle was impounded for seven days, and their licence suspended for 90 days.
