Deceased Identified

(KAPUSKASING, ON) - Police have identified the deceased in connection with the discovery of human remains in Kapuskasing.

On Tuesday, April 21, 2026, members of the James Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of human remains located in a field near Kapuskasing. A post-mortem examination conducted by the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service (OFPS) in Sudbury identified the remains as Emily-Anne LAROUCHE, (also known as Mimi), aged 33 of Kapuskasing, who was reported missing on Sunday, January 25, 2026. The cause of death remains under investigation.

Investigators believe this was an isolated incident with no signs of a broader threat.
