Arrest Made in 2025 Homicide

(CLARENCE-ROCKLAND, ON) - An individual has been charged with first degree murder in connection with a homicide investigation in Clarence-Rockland.

On Saturday, May 17, 2025, at approximately 5:30 pm, officers from the Russell County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a body discovered in the Ottawa River, near Dallaire Street.

The postmortem examination identified the deceased as Robert PREVOST, 63 years old of Clarence-Rockland, who was reported missing in early March 2025. He was last seen at his home on Laurier Street in early February 2025. Police deemed that his death was a result of homicide.

Following a thorough investigation, on Thursday, June 4, 2026, Luc DECARIE, 51 years old of St-Gabriel-de-Brandon, Québec, was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • First degree murder, s. 231(2)
  • Indignity to a body, s. 182
  • Conspiracy to commit murder, s. 465(1)(a)

The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal on Friday, June 5, 2026.
