84 year old Man Arrested and Charged with Sexual Assault and Exploitation in Historical Incident

In January 2022, we received a complaint of a historical Sexual Assault that occurred in 1989 involving, at the time, a youth under the age of 16. Due to the sensitive nature of the incident and in order to protect the Survivor’s identity, no further details will be provided.
On May 5, 2022, Detectives from the Major Sex Crimes Section of our Criminal Investigation Division arrested and charged 84 year old, Ronald Toppazzini of Greater Sudbury with the following offences under the Criminal Code of Canada:
- Sexual Assault
- Sexual Exploitation
He was released on an Undertaking with a Court date of July 13, 2022 to answer to the charges.
