ITSU investigating serious collision involving pedestrian on Algonquin Road

Unfortunately, the 59-year-old, pedestrian has succumbed to her injuries and died in hospital on January 29, 2026.
Officers in the Integrated Traffic Safety Unit (ITSU) continue to investigate the collision.
ORIGINAL
Just before 7:10 pm on January 22, 2026, officers were dispatched to a collision involving a pedestrian on Algonquin Road. The driver of the vehicle involved in the collision stopped to render aid to the pedestrian and contacted emergency services. The 59-year-old, woman was transported to the hospital by Greater Sudbury Paramedic Services with serious, life-threatening injuries. She remains in critical condition.
Based on the preliminary investigation, it is believed that the pedestrian was crossing Algonquin Road when she was struck by the black SUV traveling towards Regent Street.
The Integrated Traffic Safety Unit (ITSU) is investigating the collision and the investigation is ongoing.
