drugs seizedOn April 8, 2026, detectives from the Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) concluded a drug investigation into individuals believed to be trafficking illicit drugs in Greater Sudbury. DEU with the assistance of the Emergency Response Unit (ERU) and K9 Unit executed a Controlled drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant at a residence on Byng Street.

During the execution of the search warrant, officers located and arrested three individuals inside the residence, however, one individual was later released unconditionally as the individual was not involved in drug trafficking.

A search of the individuals and residence incident to arrest, revealed approximately 194 grams of cocaine, 251 grams of fentanyl, 31 grams of MDMA, 133 – 12mg Hydromorphone pills, 70 – 8mg Hydromorphone pills and $1,255 in cash. The estimated street value of the seized drugs is $58,500.

As a result of the investigation, 39-year-old, Joelle Austin and 37-year-old, Randy Rogers have been charged with the following offences under the Controlled drugs and Substances Act and Criminal Code of Canada:

  • Possession of a Schedule I controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking x4
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000

Joelle Austin attended Bail Court today, April 9, 2026, to answer to the charges and Randy Rogers was released with a court date of July 8, 2026.
