Shortly after 2:05 pm on June 1, 2026, officers were dispatched to a report of erratic driving outside St. Charles Catholic Elementary School on Charlotte Street in Chelmsford. Information indicated that an individual was operating a vehicle dangerously in the parking lot, driving toward staff members and ultimately striking one staff member. The staff member was not injured. As a precaution, school administration initiated a hold-and-secure to protect students and staff.
Upon arrival, officers attempted to stop the vehicle, at which point the individual drove into a marked police cruiser. Officers were able to contain the vehicle using multiple cruisers. Despite repeated directions to turn off the ignition and exit, the individual refused to comply. An officer then gained control of the situation by smashing the passenger-side window and removing the keys from the ignition.
The driver, a 33-year-old, woman was taken into custody and charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code of Canada and Highway Traffic Act (HTA);
- Dangerous Operation x2
- Fail to Remain After Accident
- Flight From Peace Officer
- Assault Peace Officer with a Weapon
- Mischief Under $5,000
- Cause Disturbance
- Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform Stunt
The driver received a 30-day Driver’s Licence suspension, and the vehicle has been impounded for 14 days.
She was released on an appearance notice with a court date of August 19, 2026, to answer to the charges.
