Officers investigating suspected arson on Notre Dame Avenue – Person of interest

UPDATE
Through the ongoing investigation, officers identified the person believed to be responsible for the fire at a local business on Notre Dame Avenue on November 1, 2025.
On November 5, 2025, officers arrested and charged 30-year-old, Dylan Savard with the following offences under the Criminal Code of Canada:
- Arson – Disregard for human life
- Arson – Damage to property
- Breach of Probation
He was held overnight and will attend Bail Court today, November 6, 2025, to answer to the charges.
ORIGINAL
Around 1:30 pm on November 1, 2025, Greater Sudbury Fire Services contacted police regarding a structure fire on Notre Dame Avenue. Officers were originally dispatched to assist with traffic control in the area, however, through the investigation it was determined to be a suspected arson.
Based on the initial investigation, information provided to police was that an individual was seen behind the building just prior to the fire. Officers were able to obtain the attached image of the individual.
The fire caused substantial damage to the building, displacing several individuals who reside above the storefront location.
This incident is being investigated as an arson.
