CARLETON PLACE MAN FACING IMPAIRED DRIVING CHARGES AFTER COLLISION

(OTTAWA, ON) - Members of the Ottawa Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid impaired driving related charges against an individual from Carleton Place after they rolled their vehicle on Highway 7.
Shortly before 2:30 am on May 16, 2026, OPP were called to a vehicle that had rolled into the ditch on Highway 7. Upon arrival, police suspected the driver to be under the influence of alcohol. A roadside screening device was utilized and the driver was brought back Ottawa Detachment for further testing.
As a result, Carter STANDISH, 21 years of age, faces the following charges:
- Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration 80 plus
Standish had his licence suspended for 90 days and had his vehicle impounded for seven days. The accused is set to appear in an Ontario Court of Justice in Ottawa at a later date.
