ROAD RAGE INCIDENT LEADS TO CRIMINAL CHARGES

(OTTAWA, ON) - Members of the Ottawa Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid criminal charges against an individual from Quebec after they were involved in a road rage incident.
Shortly before 4:00 pm on May 18, 2026, OPP were dispatched to a road rage incident on Highway 417 near Hunt Club Road in Ottawa’s east end. The incident occurred after a driver passed the accused in the right lane. The accused began following the victim and at one point during the confrontation, was driving the wrong way down the ramp at Hunt Club. The accused attempted to slash the victims tire with a screwdriver and tried to break the victim’s car window.
As a result, Sylvain Labelle, 61 years of age, faces the following charges:
- Dangerous operation
- Assault with a weapon
- Mischief
- Drive wrong way - one way traffic
- Obstruct plate
