SPEED ENFORCEMENT LEADS TO IMPAIRED DRIVING CHARGES

(OTTAWA, ON) - Members of the Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (T.I.M.E.) Team have laid impaired driving related charges against an individual from Ottawa after stopping the driver for speeding.
Shortly after 1:30 pm on March 18, the T.I.M.E Team member stopped a driver on Highway 417 W/B near Eagleson Rd. for speeding. The driver was travelling at 146km/h. The officer suspected the driver to be under the influence of alcohol. A roadside screening device was utilised, and the driver was brought back to Ottawa Detachment for further testing.
As a result, Alan HOLDEN, 50 years of age faces the following charges:
- Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration 80 plus
- Driving a motor vehicle with an open container of liquor
- Speeding
The accused had his drivers licence suspended for 90-days and had his vehicle impounded for seven days. The accused is set to appear in an Ontario Court of Justice in Ottawa at a later date.
