TRAFFIC COMPLAINT LEADS TO IMPAIRED DRIVING CHARGES

(OTTAWA, ON) - Members of the Ottawa Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid impaired driving related charges against an individual from Kanata after stopping the vehicle because of a driving complaint.
Shortly before 4:00 pm on April 2, OPP received a driving complaint regarding a possible impaired driver on Highway 417 westbound near Pinecrest Rd. Officers located the vehicle and upon speaking with the driver, suspected him to be under the influence of alcohol. A roadside screening device was utilized, and the driver was brought back to Ottawa Detachment for further testing. The driver registered more then four times the legal limit of alcohol!
As a result, Sarith PICH, 56 years of age, from Kanata, now faces the following charges:
- Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration 80 plus
- Dangerous operation
The accused had his licence suspended for 90-days and had his vehicle impounded for seven days. He is set to appear in an Ontario Court of Justice, in Ottawa at a later date.
