CHARGES LAID FOLLOWING REPORTS OF A SUSPICIOUS PERSON

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) - Members from the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), placed Fenelon Falls Secondary School in a hold and secure following an emergency call for service.
On Tuesday September 16, 2025 at approximately 9:38 am, City of Kawartha Lakes OPP received a call for service regarding a group of teenagers walking towards Fenelon Falls Secondary School one carrying what was believed to be a pipe bomb or large firework. Officers responded and quickly located the person in question. Fenelon Falls Secondary School was in a hold and secure for just under 15 minutes. The youth cannot be named under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA) but was charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with:
- Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- Public Mischief
The accused was released and will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date.
