(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) - The City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continues to take impaired drivers off our roadways through ongoing enforcement and community‑reported concerns.

On Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at approximately 9:18 pm, officers responded to a complaint of a suspicious person in the area of Hazel Street and Hilltop Street in Verulam Township. Officers attended the area and located the person.Through investigation officers charged the male with impaired driving offences.

Tally SODHI, 57-year-old of Dunsford, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Causing a Disturbance
  • Drive without proper rear light - motor vehicle
  • Improper number plate light
  • Being intoxicated in public place
  • Consuming liquor in unauthorized place

SODHI was given a seven‑day vehicle impoundment, a 90‑day driver’s licence suspension, and a future court date.

On Saturday, April 11, 2026, at approximately 7:39 pm, officers conducted a traffic stop on a motor vehicle for a Highway Traffic Act offence on Highway 35 in Manvers Township. Through investigation officers charged a driver with impaired driving offences.

Kevin WENTZELL, 59-year-old of Oshawa, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Speeding 1 - 49km/h over posted limit

WENTZELL was given a seven‑day vehicle impoundment, a 90‑day driver’s licence suspension, and a future court date.

On Sunday, April 12, 2026, at approximately 12:35 am, officers conducted a traffic stop on a motor vehicle for a Highway Traffic Act offence on Angeline Street in Lindsay. Through investigation officers charged a driver with impaired driving offences.

Logan Stewart, 31-year-old of Lindsay, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Driving while under suspension
  • Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available
  • Drive motor vehicle with open container of liquor
  • Drive motor vehicle no currently validated permit

STEWART was given a seven‑day vehicle impoundment, a 90‑day driver’s licence suspension, and a future court date.
