OPP RESPOND TO COLLISION BETWEEN SUV AND E-BIKE

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) - Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a two-vehicle collision involving an SUV and an electric bicycle (e-bike) on Emily Park Road

On July 23, 2025, at approximately 5:17 am, officers from the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP Detachment responded to a collision involving an SUV and an e-bike on Emily Park Road, just south of Highway 7. Both vehicles were travelling northbound when the e-bike was struck from behind by the SUV. The investigation revealed that the e-bike was being operated without proper lighting at the time of the collision. The e-Bike rider was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

As a result of the investigation, a 27-year-old from Seabright was charged under the Ontario Highway Traffic Act (HTA) with Improper Lighting on a Motor Assisted Bicycle.
