IMPAIRED DRIVING OFFENCES LAID

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) - Members from the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid multiple impaired driving offences since April 18, 2026.
On Saturday, April 18, 2026, at approximately 8:55 pm, officers received a traffic complaint for a driver westbound on Highway 7, Mariposa Township. Officers patrolled the area and located the driver and vehicle near Lorneville Road and Simcoe Street, Eldon Township.
Robert CONNELLY, 48-year-old of Eldon Township was charged with:
- Operation while Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)
- Operation while Impaired - Alcohol and drugs
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date. The driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the motor vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
On Saturday, April 25, 2026, at approximately 7:20 pm, officers responded to a single motor vehicle collision for a rolled over truck on Ranchers Road, Fenelon Township. Officers attended the scene and located the driver who happened to also be the original complainant. Through investigation, the driver was arrested for impaired driving. The driver was not injured as a result of the collision
Tyler HAMILTON, 21-year-old of Cambray was charged with:
- Operation while Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)
- Drive motor vehicle - no licence
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date. The driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the motor vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
