IMPAIRED DRIVER TRIED TO AVOID RIDE PROGRAM

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) - Members from the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) entered into an impaired driving investigation after observing a motor vehicle take a side road around a RIDE program and conducted a traffic stop on the motor vehicle.
On Sunday November 02, 2025 at approximately 1:02 am, officers were conducting a RIDE program on Highway 35 near Thunderbridge Road when a vehicle was observed appearing to try and avoid the RIDE program by taking McLaren’s Creek Road. A traffic stop was conducted on the motor vehicle and the driver was arrested and charged with impaired driving related offences.
Alexander Hussey Carriere, 31-year-old of Barrie was charged with:
- Operation while Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date. The drivers licence was suspended for 90 days and the motor vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
