On Saturday February 7, 2026, at approximately 2:00 pm, the James Bay OPP responded to a 911 call reporting a suspected impaired driver in Cochrane.
Police located the vehicle on Eleventh Avenue and conducted a traffic stop. After speaking with the driver, officers determined that alcohol consumption was a factor. The individual was arrested and transported to the Cochrane OPP detachment for further testing.
As a result of the investigation, Jakob MacDonald-ROSS, 26 years of age, of Cochrane, has been charged with:
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Operate a motor vehicle without insurance
- Driving a motor vehicle with open container of liquor
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on March 10, 2026, in Cochrane. Additionally, the driver was issued a 90‑day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS).
