SHELTER-IN-PLACE LIFTED IN KAPUSKASING

(KAPUSKASING, ON) - The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) James Bay Detachment has lifted the shelter-in-place advisory in the area of King Street and Bowman Avenue in Kapuskasing. Residents may now resume their regular activities, as there is no threat to public safety.
The advisory was issued on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at approximately 11:00 pm, following reports of a robbery and assault. As part of the initial response, members of the public in the affected area were asked to follow shelter-in-place precautions. The situation was resolved safely, and the individuals involved are now in custody.
Police will not be releasing the names of the accused in order to protect the identity of the victim.
James Bay OPP thanks community members for their cooperation and understanding. A police presence may remain in the area as the investigation continues. No further information will be released at this time.
