JAMES BAY OPP INVESTIGATING FATAL SNOWMOBILE COLLISION

(KAPUSKASING, ON) - The Kapuskasing Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is currently investigating a fatal snowmobile collision in Kapuskasing.
On February 7, 2026, at approximately 2:30 pm, members of the Kapuskasing Detachment OPP responded to a report of a single snowmobile collision on Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Club (OFSC) Trail L123 near the intersection of Stephens Road and Swanson Road in Kapuskasing.
The driver, a 67-year-old male of Ingersoll, Ontario, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
OPP Technical Collision Investigators and Reconstructionists (TCI) are assisting with the investigation.
OFSC Trail L123 was closed between Trail L137 and Trail L143 for the investigation, and the trail has since reopened.
