Counterfeit Canadian currency in Kenora
(KENORA, ON) - The Kenora Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have been alerted to counterfeit Canadian currency being circulated.
On February 6th, 2026, members of the Kenora OPP were alerted to a counterfeit $20.00 Canadian bill being used to pay for a taxi fare.
Through investigation it was determined that a fare had passed a counterfeit “prop” money $20.00 bill to pay for a taxi fare on February 2nd, 2026.
The taxi operator was suspect of the money during the transaction and attended the Kenora OPP detachment later and turned it over for processing. The investigation is ongoing.
