DRIVER CHARGED WITH IMPAIRED IN COBALT

(COBALT, ON) - The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged one individual with impaired driving following an investigation in the Town of Cobalt.
On Friday, February 13, 2026, at approximately 11:45 pm, members of the Temiskaming Detachment of the OPP were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) initiative when officers checked a vehicle on Lang Street in Cobalt.
Officers approached and spoke with the driver. As a result of the interaction and subsequent investigation, the driver was arrested and transported to the Temiskaming OPP Detachment for further testing.
Emile Boutet, 36 years of age, of Temiskaming Shores has been charged with:
- Operation while impaired - alcohol
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Haileybury on March 10, 2026, at 9:30 am
In addition to the charges, the driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
