OPP INVESTIGATING DEATH OF CHILD ON PRIVATE PROPERTY

(ROBILLARD TOWNSHIP, ON) - The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating the death of a young child following a motor vehicle incident on private property in Robillard Township.
On Sunday, March 8, 2026, at approximately 5:45 pm, members of the Englehart and Temiskaming Detachment of the OPP responded after a child was transported to Hospital with life threatening injuries. The child was later pronounced deceased at the hospital.
Preliminary investigation indicates the incident occurred on a rural property while a passenger vehicle was being moved a short distance in a driveway area. A two-year-old child sustained fatal injuries during the incident.
Members of the OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) Team and the OPP Forensic Identification Services (FIS) are assisting with the investigation under the direction of the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario.
The investigation remains ongoing.
