POLICE CHARGE ONE PERSON AFTER SEXUAL ASSAULT INVESTIGATION

(ENGLEHART, ON) - An investigation by the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has resulted in charges being laid in connection with a reported sexual assault.
On Thursday, April 2, 2026, members of the Temiskaming OPP Detachment, with assistance from the Temiskaming OPP Crime Unit, commenced an investigation into a sexual assault involving a 16-year-old victim. The incident is reported to have occurred in October 2025 in the Town of Englehart.
As a result of the investigation, a 19-year-old individual from Englehart has been charged with one count of aggravated sexual assault, contrary to section 273(2)(b) of the Criminal Code.
The name of the accused will not be released in order to protect the identity of the victim.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.
