DROWNING INCIDENT AT SANDBANKS PROVINCIAL PARK

(PRINCE EDWARD COUNTY, ON) - Members of the Prince Edward County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a drowning incident involving a three-year-old child in Prince Edward County.
On Thursday July 25, 2025, at approximately 5:30 pm, officers were dispatched to Sandbanks Provincial Park after a child went missing while playing with family members in a shallow area of water.
The child was located and recovered by bystanders prior to the arrival of emergency services and subsequently transported to hospital by EMS. Despite resuscitation efforts, the child was pronounced deceased.
The identity of the victim is not being released out of respect for the family’s privacy.
