IMPAIRED DRIVER CHARGED AFTER COLLISION INVOLVING PARKED VEHICLES

(PRINCE EDWARD COUNTY, ON) - An individual has been charged following a motor vehicle collision involving multiple parked vehicles in Picton.
On Tuesday, May 12, 2026, shortly before 8:00 pm, officers with the Prince Edward County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a collision at the intersection of York Street and Elk Street. Multiple members of the public reported that a vehicle had struck unoccupied parked vehicles.
Officers arrived on scene and observed significant damage to multiple vehicles.
As a result of the investigation, the driver was arrested and transported to the detachment for further testing.
Robert HELE, age 37 of Hillier, has been charged with:
- Operation while impaired - alcohol
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Dangerous operation
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date. The individual’s driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
