FAILING TO STOP FOR A STOP SIGN LEADS TO IMPAIRED CHARGES

(PRINCE EDWARD COUNTY, ON) - Failing to stop for a stop sign in Picton has led to impaired driving charges.
On Wednesday, August 6, 2025, shortly after 4:30 am, an officer with the Prince Edward County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) watched as a car failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Main and Bridge Streets.
The officer stopped the vehicle, and an approved roadside alcohol screening device was utilized. The driver was transported to the detachment for further testing.
Benjamin ARMSTRONG, age 22 of Carrying Place, has been charged with:
- Operation while impaired
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Disobey a stop sign
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton on September 3, 2025.
The individual’s driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days, and their vehicle was impounded for seven days.
