EAST ALGOMA OPP ARREST PERSON AFTER STOLEN PROPERTY RECOVERED

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) - The East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested a person after calls for service in relation to stolen property.
On August 13, 2025, police were called to a residence on Poplar Road where the complainant reported that a known male entered their garage and stole numerous items sometime over night. Police also executed a search warrant for the male’s rental vehicle and seized additional stolen property and drugs.
John James COLQUHOUN, 66-years-old from Elliot Lake was charged with:
- Possession or property obtained by crime under $5000 - seven counts
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance - Heroin
- Possession of over 30g of dried cannabis (or equivalent) in a public place
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Blind River on August 14, 2025.
