OPP ARREST TWO PEOPLE AFTER GUN CALL

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) - Police arrest and charge two people after responding to a call at apartment complex.
On April 16, 2026, at approximately 4:45 am, the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was called related to shots fired on Willoughby Road in Elliot Lake. Numerous residents reported hearing gun shots fired outside the building. Police arrived immediately to secure the scene and ensure public safety. In doing so, two people were arrested outside.
Hank (Henry) MACDONALD, 18-years-old from Elliot Lake, was charged with:
- Discharge a firearm into or at a place in a reckless manner - two counts
- Careless use of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
Renee BARD, 18-years-old from Elliot Lake, was charged with:
- Discharge a firearm into or at a place in a reckless manner - two counts
- Careless use of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
The accused persons are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Blind River on April 17, 2026.
The OPP’s Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU) Emergency Response Team (ERT), Canine Unit, East Algoma Crime Unit and uniform members were involved.
