One Person Arrested
(THESSALON, ON) - One person has been charged in connection with an incident that resulted in serious injuries in Thessalon.
On Thursday, February 5, 2026, at approximately 7:00 am, the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario (OPP) and Algoma Paramedic Services responded to a report of an individual in medical distress at a residence on Main Street. Upon arrival, officers located one person with serious injuries from an edged weapon. The individual was subsequently transported to hospital.
As a result of the investigation, on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, a 20-year-old from Thessalon was arrested and charged with aggravated assault contrary to section 268 of the Criminal Code.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River at a later date.
As the incident is believed to involve intimate partner violence, the name of the accused will not be released to protect the identity of the victim.
