(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) - A person was charged after police received a report of a possible impaired driver on Hillside Drive South.
On February 10, 2026, at approximately 6:45 pm the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) located the white Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) and conducted a traffic stop. The driver was spoken to who exhibited signs of alcohol impairment. They were subsequently arrested and the SUV was towed and impounded.
Charlene TURCOTTE, 71-years-old, from Elliot Lake was charged with:
- Operation while impaired by alcohol
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on April 9, 2026.
