SPEEDER CHARGED WITH IMPAIRED OPERATION

(MUNICIPALITY OF HURON SHORES, ON) - The East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) lays 16th impaired charged in 2026.
On Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at approximately 9:45 pm, police were patrolling Highway 17 west of the town of Iron Bridge when they observed a grey SUV travelling at a high rate of speed and initiated a traffic stop near Hopkins Bay Road.
During the interaction, the officer observed signs consistent with impairment by alcohol. The driver was arrested and transported to the Thessalon OPP detachment for further testing.
Jonathan LEE, 42 years old of Victoria Harbour was charged with:
- Operation while impaired - alcohol
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Careless driving
- Speeding
- Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor
The accused is scheduled is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on June 4, 2026.
The driver was also issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
