(SCUGOG, ON) - One individual has been pronounced deceased following a collision on Highway 7/12 in Scugog Township.

On Friday, May 22, 2026, at approximately 6:50 am, members of the Highway Safety Division - Toronto Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a collision involving a passenger vehicle and dump truck on Highway 7/12 just north of Blue Mountain Road. The collision resulted in a vehicle fire which spread to the other vehicle.

As a result of the collision, the driver of the passenger vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the dump truck was not injured.

Highway 7/12 remains closed between Scugog Line 12 to Scugog Line 14 for the investigation with assistance from members of the OPP Technical Collision Investigation and Reconstruction unit.

The investigation is still ongoing. No further details to be released at this time.
