OPP RESPONDS TO FATAL COLLISION ON HIGHWAY 401

(TORONTO, ON) - One individual has been pronounced deceased following a fatal multi-vehicle collision on Highway 401 in Toronto.
On Friday, May 15, 2026, shortly after 11:45 pm, members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Highway Safety Division - Toronto Detachment attended the scene of a collision on Highway 401 eastbound, east of Eglinton Avenue West in Toronto. There was an initial collision involving an SUV and a passenger vehicle. Following the initial collision, the driver of the SUV exited the vehicle and was subsequently struck in a secondary incident involving another passenger vehicle.
The driver of the SUV, a 40-year-old female from Mississauga, was transported to hospital where she was later pronounced deceased.
The eastbound lanes of Highway 401 at Eglinton Avenue West were closed for several hours for the on-scene investigation and have since reopened.
