Five Youths Charged in Parallel Police Investigation

(PUSLINCH TWP, ON) - Members of the Mississauga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid charges in connection with an incident in which the province’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) invoked its mandate in Puslinch.

On Friday, May 22, 2026, at approximately 8:50 pm, members of the Mississauga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to reports of a stolen vehicle at a highway service centre on Highway 401 westbound in Puslinch.

The vehicle fled the scene and was subsequently involved in a collision with a passenger vehicle on the highway. Three occupants of the passenger vehicle were transported to hospital with minor injuries.

As a result of a parallel police investigation, five youths have been charged.

A 16-year-old from Hamilton has been charged with:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • Operation causing bodily harm
  • Failure to stop after accident
  • Flight from peace officer
  • Class G1 licence holder - unaccompanied by qualified driver (three counts)
  • Disobey sign
  • Fail to signal stop

Four additional 16-year-olds from Hamilton, Dundas and Mississauga have each been charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

The accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on Wednesday, July 8, 2026.

The identities of all charged individuals are protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. As a result, their names will not be released.
