TRAFFIC COMPLAINT LEADS TO DRUG IMPAIRED DRIVER

(PERTH EAST, ON) - One person has been charged following a traffic complaint in the Township of Perth East.
On March 30, 2026, shortly after 12:30 pm, the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to traffic complaint of a male that was sleeping in stopped motor vehicle at the intersection of Perth Line 44 and Perth Road 119 in the Township of Perth East.
The driver was displaying sign of impairment by drug and was subjected to testing by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE).
The driver, 28-year-old Nathan Batte of Mildmay, Ontario was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offence:
- Operation while Impaired - drugs
The accused was released from custody, scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on May 4, 2026. The accused is also facing a 90-day drivers licence suspension, 7-day motor vehicle impoundment as well as tow and impound fees.
