(WEST PERTH, ON) - One person has been charged for driving impaired after being stopped following a traffic violation in the Municipality of West Perth.

On January 27, 2026 at approximately 4:00 pm the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed a vehicle fail to stop for stop sign at the intersection of Roland St and Wellington St in the town of Mitchell. Upon further investigation police determined that driver had consumed alcohol and demanded they provide a sample of their breath into an Approved Screening Device (ASD).

The driver, 35-year-old Chanelle Kelly of Mitchell was charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Operation while Impaired
  • Operation while Impaired - Blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was arrested and released from custody, scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on March 2, 2026. The accused is also facing a 90-day drivers licence suspension, 7-day motor vehicle impoundment as well as tow and impound fees.
