OPP SEEKING ASSISTANCE WITH CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT THEFT
Update #1 - Property Recovered
(WEST PERTH, ON) - The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have recovered stolen property and arrested one individual in connection with a theft that occurred in the Municipality of West Perth.
On February 23, 2026 Perth County OPP launched an investigation into a theft that occurred at a business in the Town of Staffa. The incident is reported to have occurred sometime between February 22 and February 23, 2026.
On February 25 and 26, 2026 the Perth County OPP with assistance from Huron-Perth Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU), Perth County Auto Theft Unit, Grey-Bruce CSCU, and Huron County OPP executed search warrants at a residential property in the Municipality of North Perth.
50-year-old Shane Hollier of North Perth was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offences:
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 (eight counts)
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 (two counts)
- Altering, Destroying, Removing a Vehicle Identification Number (three counts)
As a result of the executed search warrants, all property from the theft that occurred on February 23, 2026 was recovered and returned to its owner, including a Dump Truck, which was recovered in the City of London by Middlesex OPP. Further, multiple other stolen items from thefts that occurred in surrounding areas, reaching as far as the Greater Toronto Area were recovered.
The accused was held in custody and released following a show cause hearing on February 27, 2026, scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on March 30, 2026.
This investigation remains ongoing.
