ORANGEVILLE RESIDENT CHARGED AFTER FLEEING FROM POLICE

(DUFFERIN COUNTY) - Members of the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an Orangeville resident with multiple offences after a male fled from a traffic stop.
On March 18, 2026, at approximately 1:00 am, Dufferin OPP officers initiated a traffic stop after observing a motorist proceed through a red light. While the vehicle was stopped, the male exited and fled on foot down the roadway. Officers were able to safely bring the situation under control and take the individual into custody.
As a result of the investigation, Anthony Dimech, a 44-year-old male from Orangeville, has been charged with:
- Obstruct peace officer
- Driving while under suspension
- Red light - proceed before green
- Possess unmarked cigarettes
- Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available
