THREE IMPAIRED DRIVERS REMOVED FROM DUFFERIN COUNTY ROADS

(DUFFERIN COUNTY) - Members of the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) removed three impaired drivers from local roadways during the Easter long weekend.
On April 3, 2026, at approximately 11:07 pm, Dufferin OPP officers responded to a report of a possible impaired driver in the area of Highway 10 and County Road 10 in the Town of Mono.
A short time later, officers located the vehicle of interest and conducted a traffic stop. Following their interaction with the driver, officers initiated an impaired driving investigation.
As a result of the investigation, Kobiraj THANGARAJAH, a 38-year-old male from Dundalk, has been charged with:
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
On April 4, 2026, at approximately 5:44 am, Dufferin OPP officers responded to a report of a single motor vehicle collision in the area of Highway 9, just east of Highway 10 in the Town of Mono.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with the driver of the vehicle. Following their interaction, officers initiated an impaired driving investigation.
As a result of the investigation, Elizabeth OBENG, a 39-year-old female from Hamilton, has been charged with:
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Operation while impaired - alcohol
On April 4, 2026, at approximately 8:54 pm, Dufferin OPP officers were conducting a RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) program on County Road 21 in the Township of Mulmur.
During the program, officers stopped a vehicle and spoke with the driver. Following their interaction, officers initiated an impaired driving investigation.
As a result of the investigation, Chayse MCCALLUM, a 27-year-old male from Shelburne, has been charged with:
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
