(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) - Members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid charges in several unrelated incidents that occurred recently.

Harassment Investigation

On April 24, 2026, at approximately 8:30 am, police received a report from a resident of Trent Hills who located an electronic tracking device that had been placed in their vehicle without their knowledge.

Officers investigated the matter and, as a result of the investigation, one individual was arrested on April 26, 2026.

A 63-year-old male from Havelock has been charged with:

  • Criminal harassment - beset and watch complainant

The accused shall not be named in order to protect the identity of the victim. The individual is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in June 2026.

Impaired Operation Investigation

On April 23, 2026, shortly after 5:00 pm, OPP were notified of a passenger vehicle unable to maintain its lane while travelling on Highway 401 eastbound in the Township of Alnwick/Haldimand.

Police located and stopped a vehicle matching the description on Big Apple Drive in the Township of Cramahe.

Following an interaction with the driver, an impaired operation investigation was initiated. The individual was taken into custody and transported to a local detachment for further testing.

April HOCKNEY (48) from the Municipality of Brighton has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
  • Possess more than one license

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in June 2026. A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impound were also imposed.

Collision Investigation

On April 26, 2026, at approximately 2:00 pm, police responded to a single-vehicle collision on County Road 25 in the Township of Cramahe. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) also attended as a precaution.

Officers located a passenger vehicle on its roof in the ditch. All occupants had exited the vehicle and no injuries were reported.

A 45-year-old male from Etobicoke was charged with:

  • Careless driving
