IMPAIRED DRIVING CHARGES LAID AFTER HIGHWAY 401 TRAFFIC STOP

(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) - The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a driver with impaired operation following a traffic stop.
On December 11, 2025, at approximately 11:40 pm, officers on patrol observed a passenger vehicle travelling eastbound on Highway 401 in the Township of Cramahe. The vehicle was unable to maintain its lane and reached speeds of approximately 130 km/h.
The motorist was stopped, and after speaking with the driver, officers initiated an impaired driving investigation. The individual was taken into custody and transported to a local detachment for further tests.
Tyler MC CUAIG (34) from Plainfield, has been charged with:
- Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Speeding
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in January 2026. A further 90-day Administrative Driver License Suspension (ADLS) and a 7-day vehicle impound was initiated as per statute.
