STOLEN VEHICLES RECOVERED BY NORTHUMBERLAND OPP

(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) - Members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have recovered multiple stolen vehicles and charged one individual.
On May 23, 2026, officers responded to a complaint regarding a stolen vehicle at a property on County Road 65 in the Municipality of Port Hope. Police located a stolen pickup truck, and the Peterborough/Northumberland Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) was engaged to assist with the investigation.
A search warrant was executed at the property on May 24, 2026. As a result, numerous stolen vehicles were located within wooded areas on the property. Officers also recovered a fishing boat.
In total, police seized seven motor vehicles, a boat, and other items believed to be related to criminal activity. The estimated value of the recovered vehicles is approximately $900,000 CAD.
As a result, Syed SHAH (41) from the Municipality of Port Hope, has been charged with:
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 - eight counts
- Altering/destroying/removing a vehicle identification number - three counts
The accused was held for bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg.
