SIU INVOKES MANDATE IN NORTHUMBERLAND

(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) - The province’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has invoked its mandate following an arrest in Cramahe Township.
On Sunday, May 24, 2026, shortly before 7:00 pm, officers from the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an incident in Cramahe Township and arrested an individual, who was subsequently transported to the Northumberland Detachment.
While in custody, the individual went into medical distress and was transported by ambulance to the hospital, where they were later pronounced deceased.
