(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) - Members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a motorist with impaired operation following a collision.

On January 8, 2026, shortly after 6:00 pm, police and fire crews responded to a two-vehicle collision on County Road 30 in the Municipality of Trent Hills.

No serious injuries were reported; however, both a passenger vehicle and a commercial vehicle sustained extensive damage.

After speaking with one of the involved drivers, officers initiated an impaired operation investigation. The individual was taken into custody and transported to a local detachment for further testing.

Lee FERRILL, 42-years-old, from Campbellford, has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available
  • Disobey stop sign - fail to stop

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in February 2026. A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impound were also imposed.
