OPP INVESTIGATING COLLISION ON HIGHWAY 401 NEAR PORT HOPE

(PORT HOPE, ON) - Members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a collision on Highway 401 near Port Hope.
On Friday, July 4, 2025, at approximately 10:00 pm, OPP was notified of a collision involving a tractor-trailer and passenger vehicle between County Road 28 and County Road 2 on Highway 401 westbound.
As a result, the sole occupant of the passenger vehicle was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the tractor-trailer was charged with Careless Driving under the Highway Traffic Act.
Highway 401 westbound was closed from County Road 28 and County Road 2 for several hours for a police investigation and clean-up. All lanes have since re-opened.
