MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION RESULTS IN IMPAIRED CHARGE

(KIRKLAND LAKE, ON) - A single motor vehicle collision has resulted in impaired charges for the driver.
On Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at approximately 10:00 pm, the Kirkland Lake Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Al Wende Drive in Kirkland Lake. The vehicle was located stuck in a snowbank; the driver did not sustain any injuries. Upon speaking with the driver, officers determined that the driver had consumed an alcoholic beverage. The driver was arrested and transported to the Kirkland Lake OPP detachment for further testing.
As a result of the investigation, Sami HAGUI, a 39-year-old of Malartic, Quebec, was arrested and charged with:
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration 80 plus
- Operation while impaired - alcohol
The accused was issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment. The accused is scheduled to appear before the Kirkland Lake Ontario Court of Justice on March 5, 2026.
