TRAFFIC COMPLAINT LEADS TO IMPAIRED CHARGES

(KIRKLAND LAKE, ON) - A traffic complaint on Highway 66 leads to impaired charges.
On Sunday April 12, 2026, at approximately 4:20 pm, the Kirkland Lake Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint on Highway 66 West, travelling East to Kirkland Lake. The vehicle was located on Government Road West and a traffic stop was conducted. Upon speaking with the driver, officers determined that the driver had consumed an alcoholic beverage. The accused was arrested and transported to the Kirkland Lake detachment for further testing.
As a result of the investigation, Melissa Lang, a 37-year-old of Kirkland Lake, has been charged with:
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration 80 plus
- Operation while impaired - alcohol
The accused was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment. The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Kirkland Lake Ontario Court of Justice on May 28, 2026.
